House System
All children from Reception up to Year 6 are placed into a 'house'. In most cases siblings are placed in the same house. Each house is represented by a tree: Birch, Elm, Ash and Oak. The four 'house trees' form part of our school badge. Pupils also wear a tie specifically linked to their house.
At the start of the school year, each house votes for a Captain, Vice Captain, Sports Captain and Vice Sports Captain. Year 6 children are elected to these positions. To do so, they indicate the position they would like to apply for and write a short manifesto, which they present to their house. All children within the house vote for their preferred candidate. The Captains and Vice Captains elected are responsible for their houses and represent them in sporting and school events.
House assemblies are held every other Wednesday. During these assemblies, up coming activities relevant to each house are highlighted, pastoral matters are discussed in smaller groups and pupils work together developing a sense of belonging to their house.
