SEND and Geography:

We need to be ambitious about what our children with SEN can achieve and not believe their ability is ‘fixed’ for every subject. We take into consideration barriers to learning but we do not let these limit opportunities.  All children, regardless of gender, starting point, or background, will have the opportunity to engage with a quality geography curriculum. They will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, vocabulary and real-life experiences to understand about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments.  We intend to inspire all our pupils with a sense of enjoyment, an aspiration to travel and a geographical curiosity.

If you would like more information about how we support children who have SEND with their geography, then please see our SEND section of the website.

Our field work day was linked to the writing week book : Coming to England by Floella Benjamin

In the story Floella and her siblings arrive in England in 1960.

' But London did not seem very welcoming'

If the Benjamin children were coming to our school today how could we help them feel welcome and find out about their new environment?
